Women's Shoes

It is difficult to see women's shoes under the skirts during this period. A long pleat inset above the hem of skirts made it possible for the wearer to sit down without exposing the feet.

The shoes were similar to men's, with less exaggeration in the width of the toe. A low cut slipper, sometimes with a strap across the instep was popular in pastel shades. The women's shoes were slashed like the men's revealing a coloured taffeta lining.
